Associate Professor Nakaya on information manipulation at NATO-IP4 (Indo Pacific Four)

GOE’s Associate Professor Sumie Nakaya participated in the NATO-IP4 Strategic Dialogue, organized by Yonsei University’s Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) and the Adapt Institute in Seoul on February 25, 2025. Yonsei’s GSIS and Hitotsubashi’s School of International and Public Policy (IPP) are set to launch a dual degree program in Spring 2025.

The conference gathered panelists from NATO and its four Asian partners: Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea. Alongside broader audiences attending in person, they discussed shared geopolitical concerns. Associate Professor Nakaya provided a Japanese perspective on hybrid warfare, highlighting internal and local sources of misinformation and underlying factors that exacerbate social divisions. She also stressed the importance of cooperation among neighboring states and civil society groups to counter manipulation.
