We will invite Dr. Fumi Kitagawa, at the Univerisity of Manchester, who will deliver a lecture on the recent trend of higher education reform in the UK. Throughout the lecture, Dr. Kitagawa will address questions such as: How has interdisciplinary education developed within the existing university structure of the UK? What do the changes that have occured, particularly in the role of liberal arts education, imply? What influence has there been on students of the sudden rise in tuition fees? While considering comprehensively both the undergraduate and graduate levels, through an analysis of this situation in the UK,
Dr. Kitagawa will examine whether there are any implications for Japan.
